Overview
The Mafia Game is a party game where players are assigned roles secretly and attempt to identify the mafia members among them. The game proceeds in alternating phases of night and day. During the night, mafia members secretly plot and eliminate one player. During the day, all players, including the mafia, debate and vote to eliminate a suspect, hoping to uncover the mafia's identities.
Roles
- Mafia: The members of the mafia are aware of each other and work together to eliminate other players.
- Civilian: The civilians do not know the identities of any players and must work together to identify the mafia.
- Doctor: Each night, the Doctor can save one player from elimination by the mafia.
- Detective: The Detective can investigate one player each night to determine if they are mafia.
Phases of the Game
Night
At night, all players close their eyes. The moderator instructs the mafia to open their eyes and silently choose a player to eliminate. The mafia then close their eyes, and the Doctor and Detective take their turns opening their eyes and performing their roles.
Day
During the day, the moderator announces who was eliminated. The remaining players discuss, debate, and vote on a player they suspect to be mafia. The player with the most votes is eliminated. The game continues until all mafia members are eliminated or the mafia outnumber the civilians.
Winning the Game
The game ends when either all the mafia members are eliminated, in which case the civilians win, or when the mafia outnumber the civilians, resulting in a mafia victory.
